Despite a massive penalty, William Byron seems to be in a good mood with a hunger to win more in the upcoming races.
The Hendrick Motorsports No. 24 Chevrolet driver is on an excellent run. In just four races, he already has two wins, consecutive wins coming at Las Vegas and Phoenix.

However, his recent win was dented by the L2 level penalty for his Hendrick Motorsports team. Nonetheless, he said that he is looking forward to the appeal and the coming races.
“I can’t say the details of the penalty, of what goes on there, but certainly, I’m excited for the appeal and everything that comes with that,” Byron said Saturday at Atlanta Motor Speedway. “(We’re) just ready for this weekend. We’ve got more to prove and we’ll just keep going.
“It’s good to get two (wins) in a row the last couple of weeks. I feel like we’re on a good roll and this is a really good racetrack for us. We won here last year. I was looking forward to hearing Chad’s (Knaus) comments yesterday, and all that was good. So, looking forward to the appeal.”
After the officials deemed the louvers for HMS cars had been modified for the race at Phoneix, all the HMS team were were docked 100 points and 10 playoff points. Also, the crew chiefs were suspended for the next four NASCAR Cup Series races along with a $100,000 fine each.
