Tony Stewart issues warning to other teams in the Cup Series

Stewart-Haas Racing’s co-owner Tony Stewart seems certain that his team will improve in the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series season.

Stewart’s teams have found it hard to compete against the likes of Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing in the last couple of years. Last season, they won just three races. While it was better than a single win in the 2021 season, it still falls short of expectations for the team with talented and experienced drivers.

Kyle Busch will be “more outspoken” after becoming free from JGR’s restrictions, says Dale Jr.

However, their owner and three-time Cup champion believe that his teams will bounce back in the upcoming season. He said that the improvement of his teams will not be “good news for the competition”.

“I don’t know if it’s necessarily an advantage but I can tell you what the history of SHR has been about. [It] is that if we get knocked down, we find a way to not only get up but we find a way to be stronger because of it.

“I think with how our season was last year, I think this whole building, all four of these teams will rise and be better than what they were last year. And that’s not good news for the competition.”

The team this season will consist of Kevin Harvick, Aric Almirola, Chase Briscoe and Ryan Preece, who replaced Cole Custer.

While Stewart has come in defence of his team with a lot of optimism,  only time can tell how much the teams can repay the faith of their owner.
