January 2021 saw Stewart-Haas Racing eSports launch with great fanfare, introducing their team for the Coca-Cola iRacing Series.
Dylan Duval was back for another go with the team and Graham Bowlin was later replaced by Steven Wilson.
The team achieved a major win during a live face-off on October 23 at NASCAR Plaza in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Reports suggest that Stewart-Haas Gaming have decided to take a break from their eRacing game.
“Thank you to @DDuval42 and @swilson3_ for your dedication to SHR eSports over the years.” – SHR
“After much deliberation, we have decided to shut down our eSports operation in 2024. We want to thank Dylan Duval and Steven Wilson for how they represented out team and partners.”
“From the 2023 championship to numerous top-5s, top-10s and wins, our team enjoyed much success thanks to them.”
The announcement was made on Twitter, with a comment referring to the fact that the eNASCAR players are not widely known, apart from Kirwan, making it hard to get sponsors and market merchandise.
This is only one of the theories circulating, as the team won the title for 2023 and Wilson would have been the defending champion for 2024. October 2019 saw Stewart-Haas Gaming take the inaugural eNASCAR Heat Pro League championship at ISM Raceway. The finale was made up of two 70-lap races for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One leagues, with 14 drivers in each race.
All the activity was broadcast live from Studio 43 at NASCAR Plaza in Charlotte.
