Chase Elliott shared some thoughts on his tense run-in with Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kyle Larson in the Playoffs race at Kansas Speedway.
The incident unfolded on a late round of pit stops. Trying to avoid Brad Keselowski when leaving the stall, Larson made contact with Elliott. Not understanding the situation completely, Elliott later retaliated and hit Larson’s car.
After seeing the whole situation, Elliott tried to calm the situation down by taking the blame on his part. Speaking to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio on Tuesday, Elliott said:
“There’s a lot that goes on. We obviously ran into each other on pit road and I didn’t have the full picture of what went on, so I was frustrated. That stuff happens, for sure. But at the end of the day, I’ll certainly take the blame for my frustration on that front.
“The good news is he and I can have a conversation like adults and it’s a non-issue. The bad news is, it’s (not) a non-issue for all of y’all and everybody that wants to talk about it. There’s nothing to talk about.”
They're teammates. 😬

Elliott faced a lot of criticism for his on-track antics. That’s why he felt the need to explain the whole situation from his perspective.
Larson, on his part, was also not too angry about Elliott’s behavior and said that he understood why Elliott was mad at that moment. Larson finished fourth in the race. Having already won the first race of the playoffs, he has already advanced to the next round.
