    JR Motorsports CEO Kelley Earnhardt rules out move to Cup Series in 2023

    Over the past years JR Motorsports has been heavily linked with a move to the NASCAR Cup Series.

    Dale JR announced a series of executive-level promotions to strengthen his overall enterprise and support the growth of new business as his company enters its third decade. 

    According to JRM co-owner Kelley Earnhardt the organization will not be making the move to the elite level of NASCAR next season in 2023.

    Kelley recently appeared on Sirius XM NASCAR to discuss the possibility of move in the Cup Series.

    Kelley Earnhardt on why JR Motorsports won’t run in the Cup next season.

    “No, gosh, I wish. It’s just not coming together. I really wanted to. You’re trying to make sense out of the charter investment and then sponsorship. Said Kelley Earnhardt Because we weren’t in a position to pull it all together by mid-year, we then started working on our Xfinity stuff and we got that in good shape for 2023. I feel like now my deadline is the middle of next year, right.”

    It’s still continuing conversations. I feel like if we want to be in the Cup Series in 2024, we’ll have to get that all together by the middle of next year…we want it to be a good financial decision and not wreck what we have. We’re still deep in conversations…it just hasn’t materialized.” she added

    JRM has experienced success in the Xfinity Series in recent years So it would not come as a surprise if the team plans on entering the Cup Series.

    Dale Earnhardt Jr. announced a series of executive-level promotions at JR Motorsports.

    “Kelley is one of the most prominent businesspeople in motorsports and for good reason,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “She is a brilliant mind and proven leader. 

    Making her CEO is long overdue, but if we are going to position our businesses to maximize their potential and equip our people with the organizational support they need to succeed, there’s no better leader than Kelley.”

    Kelley Earnhardt Miller is now the CEO of all the companies. Moreover, Mike Davis is Dirty Mo Media’s president, and LW Miler, Joe Mattes, and Tony Mayhoff will be responsible for his other ventures.
