After seeing his new driver get the first win just two races into the season, Richard Childress is expecting more wins from his driver.
It didn’t take long for Kyle Busch to get his first win for his new organization, Richard Childress Racing. And more important is that Busch has had a strong start to the season, not just because of the win but also because of the way he performed at the L.A. Coliseum and Daytona 500.
Busch himself admitted that while he thought his new team could win races, he didn’t expect it to come so soon.
“One of the best race car drivers ever” – Kyle Larson lauds Kyle Busch after latest win
Calling it a “big win for Kyle and RCR”, owner Richard Childress believes that they have the right person with the right passion to get multiple wins for the organization this season.
“We’ve got to spend some time with him and he’s really a unique person, and I’ll tell you, his passion is built so strong to drive a race car and to win, it just flows all the way through this operation,” said Childress. “We’ve been right there, and to be able to come and win the next race with Kyle, man, it just took a load off of all of us.
“We know he can win. We know we got the right stuff, the right people, we just have to execute. If we can execute, he will win a lot of races.”
RCR won four races last season, three with Tyler Reddick and one with Austin Dillon. This was the most the organization has had since 2013 in a single season. However, with Busch on board, Childress is expecting the team to compete for the championship this season.
After the negativity of last season surrounding Busch with his former team, it seems that he has found the right match to succeed this season.
