Chase Elliott will honour his father Bill with the LLumar scheme for the Cup Series race at Darlington.
The scheme is a throwback to the time Bill was driving for Ray Evernham’s Dodge team in the early 2000s. The NASCAR Hall of Famer won four races driving the car from 2001 to 2003.

“Chase Elliott’s No. 9 LLumar Throwback Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 honors his dad, Bill Elliot, with a paint scheme inspired by the car that the NASCAR Hall of Famer drove to four wins from 2001 to 2003. Chase has said those years sparked his desire to pursue racing. The car also features a special message for moms with the race at Darlington Raceway taking place on Mother’s Day,” Hendrick‘s website said.
Bill won 44 wins over 828 starts in the Cup Series, including the 1988 NASCAR Cup Series champion. He drove for Ford until 2000 but changed to Dodge and drove the No. 9 car for Ray Evernham’s new Evernham Motorsports team.
As for his son, Chase, he has 18 Cup Series wins until now, including the 2020 championship. He missed six races this season due to a broken left tibia.
